What is Quaker News?
Designed to streamline the process of keeping up with multiple websites, Quaker News collects and combines news from various Quaker Meetings and organizations into a single chronological “newsfeed”.
How does it work?
Many websites have a public RSS feed which is a file that contains information about their latest content. You can subscribe to an RSS feed using a feed reader which regularly checks for new content. This site functions similarly to a feed reader, but also displays the newsfeed on a webpage.
How often is this updated?
The site is set up to automatically check the RSS feeds every hour. I would estimate that most of the websites in this feed publish new content on a weekly basis. There seems to be new content daily.
Does my site have an RSS feed?
Both WordPress and Squarespace come with an active RSS feed by default. At the time of this writing Bluesky, YouTube, and Reddit also offer feeds. Other platforms may or may not have one.
- WordPress: Find your RSS feed
- Squarespace: Finding your RSS feed URL
- Lighthouse Feed Finder: You can also use Lighthouse Feed Finder to locate your feed.
How can my feed be added to this site?
I am slowly finding and adding feed sources. I may not have gotten around to yours yet. Please feel free to contact me and let me know if you would like to have yours added.
Questions, suggestions, etc.
I will try to answer all questions. I may add them to an FAQ section in the future. Friendly suggestions are appreciated. Please feel free to contact me.
